EXPECTED TO ADVANCE. (By Telegraph.-^Press Association.) WELLINGTO2S, Monday. An unexpected rise in marine insurance rates was announced to-day. Mr O. R. Bendall, president of the Underwriters' Association, received a cablegram from London stating that insurance via the Panama Canal or Mediterranean Sea ■had increased from 30/ to 60/ per cent Replying to inquiries, local insurance managers -msc trnablo to throw light on the rise, though one hazarded the opinion that possibly submarines had appeared in soma fresh zone, remarking that when a German raider was operating in the Atlantio insurance rates rose similarly, and were lowered when the danger-was removed.
