DEATH OF WELL-KNOWN CITIZEN.
MR. RQBERT ENTRICAN
An old and highly-esteemed resident of Auckland passed away at his late residence, New Windsor Road, Avondale, this morning in the person- of Mr. Robert Entrican. The - decoased gentleman was the youngest son of the late Mr. James Entriqan, of Stoney Falls,, County Tyrone, Ireland, and was at the time of his death in his S4th year, having been born on February 7, 1833. He came to Auckland in the year 1800, and had lived here ever since, becoming a prominent member of St. James' Presbyterian Church, of which he was ordained an elder shortly after his arrival. He took a keen' interest in the work of the church, and was for many years a lay preacher, conducting services throughout the province. Some years ago he moved to Avondale, and was till quite recently a member of the Avondale Session. The late Mr. Entrican was all his life a strong temperance advocate, and worked zealously in the cause of temperance in and about Auckland. In January of last year he suffered a slight stroke, and since that time has been in Bomewhat. indifferent health. .Only last month he and rs - Entrican, who survives him, celebrated their diamond wedding. A family of four sons and five daughters is left, including Messrs. J. C. Entrican, A. J. Entrican, and R. J. Entrican, all well-known residents of Auckland, the Bey. S. W. Entrican, of Avondale, Mrs. R. H. Houston, of Grey Lynn, Mrs. W. H. Paul, of Hamilton, Mrs. J. B. Eamsaj-. of Mount Eden, Mrs. R. Sims, of Mount Albert, and Miss Entrican. The funeral will take place at Waikaraka cemetery to-morrow.
