TURKEY GETTING TIRED.
LOOKING FOR A NEW JOB. SALONIKA, March 19. A Turkish newspaper states that a Grand Council, including all the Turkish Ministers and several senators, met last week and discussed the terms upon which *" Turkey will propose to co-operate with the Allies against Bulgaria. ' This announcement is not so impro- ' bable as it seems on the face of it if there be any truth in the statement of a Spanish journalist, Scnor Ibanez de Ibero, who recently told, in the "Echo ' de Paris," of an interview he had with a prominent personage in the Turkish ' Ministry for Foreign Affairs, whose name he has promised not to divulge. In reference to the conclusion of the Tutco-Bulgarian Treaty this personage i said:— "It is very simple. We concluded the Treaty with a sword at onr throats; : Bulgaria challenged us to yield to the conditions imposed by her or to expect an immediate attack. As is our wont iwe bowed our heads. As a matter of fact, the Bulgarian ambitions respecting i Constantinople have undergone no diminution. Very naive are the people who thought to disarm them by territorial concessions. The Bulgarians have always dreamed of becoming masters of Constantinople. They have deceived everybody in this war. Look at the Greeks, now, whom they are lulling to sleep like children. One article of the Turco-Bulgarian Treaty, however, concerns them particularly, and that is the one providing for the eventual occupation of Salonika by the Bulgarians. Should Bulgaria keep this port Turkey would obtain as compensation the littoral of the Aegian Sea as far as, and including. Kavalla, and the territories recently ceded by Turkey would come back to her. Greece could ' not -understand VeniJelos, her great 1 statesman, and is doomed to disappear, becaiißO she has shown herself inferior ; to her destiny. In fact, however able a I man may be, how can he raise a country which does not possess the i means of fighting, and which lacks moral i strength_"• j,!
