WOOLLEN MILLS STRIKE.
PETONE WORKERS IDLE,
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.)
WELLINGTON, Thursday.
The dispute about wages as between the Petone Woollen Mills Employees' Union and their employers, the Wellington Woollen Company, is still unsettled. The notice given by the workers expired last night, and they were all paid off at the end of ihe day. The mills are engaged almost wholly in the production of material for military supplies, and some action will probably be taken by the Government to 'bring about a settlement of the existing differences.
The company will regard the employees Ms being on strike. The works will not close down, as permanent employees will be able to keep a portion of the plant going, but the output for military purI poses must cease temporarily.
