gO OFFER TO CREDITORS. ASSIGNEE ASKED TO ACT. A meeting of creditors in the banknipt estate of Henry Hali, of Birkenjead, iraiHer, wae held at the office o i the Official Assignee yesterday afternoon, Mr. A. V. Fraer presiding. Four creditors were present, and Mr. R. M. jlcConnefl (instructed by Messrs. Bamford and Brown) appeared for the bankrupt. The ewom statement recorded debts owing to nineteen unsecured creditors at £2W 8/10. His assets were nil. ■Rankr-apt stated that he had been a journeyman carpenter since he dissolved partnership with \V. T. Chamberlain In December, 1914. He had been averaging £2 IS/ a week, with which he had to 'keep a family of five children, the eldest being eight. He was solvent 5n June. 1914. In 1011 he assigned his estate at Hawke's Bay. and paid 12/6 a week for four nionthe. He was not prepared to make any offer to his crediExamined by Mr. C. Z. Clayton, bankiupt said his furniture was valued at £15 At present he was out of work. He filed because hte former partner war) pressing him. _ Mr. Clayton moved that the Official Assignee be requested to take such steps as are necessary to obtain an order for the payment by the bankrupt of a specified amount in instalments among his creditors. Mr. Clayton expressed the opinion that this was a case in which the Bankruptcy Act had , been taken advantage of fa order to get the better of the creditors.
