GERMAN - FIRMS IN JAPAN. : The fact that German firms in Japan are endeavouring to retain and secure businesses by operating under Japanese names was brought before the notice of the Auckland Chamber of Commerce terday afternoon, when the chairmW (Mr. E. Anderson) drew attention to » list of German traders who had tried the simple expedient of a change <>l- , name. The list, which was supplied of the British Ambassador at Tokio, who intimated that trading with the enemy was strictly prohibited, was as follows: Yokohama.—Winckler and Co.
