THE TENTHS.

A WEIX-TRAINED WRAPT.

HIGH MUSKETRY AVERAGE,

(By- Telegraph.—-Press Aaeoclafionv)

WELLINGTON, this day.

' The Tenth Reinforcements, in firing the trained soldiers' musketry course, established- the high average figure of merit of 101.3, which is regarded as as goodi if not better, than the record put up by the Fifths, th& reason. being; that the Tenths' course was harder. The Mounted liifles of the Tenths, as a complete draft, registered the highest reinforcement record, with 112.3, and D Squadron of the Tenth the highest Company or Squadron average with 119.--B Company of the Tenths also put up an infantry record, with i<56.8. The Tenth Reinforcements are generally pronounced the best-trained draft yet turned out ol New Zealand, the reason being 'that they received more and better training in:the best of camps, under the best conditions. The Elevenths will be even better, as, with them, the reserves will be aippaetl for the first time, so that the whole of the mounted and infantry of the Elevenths will have received from four to fore months , training. With, the Elevenths, therefore, the training ol reinforcements in New Zealand Should reach the highest standard, and *ita the continuance of reserves this snoTUa be maintained.
