POLICE COURT.
(Before Mr. F. V. Frazer, 531.) DRUNKENNESS. A first offender, who had been several days under medical treatment, had to pay 5/- expenses. A soldier was convicted and discharged, three other men were fined 5/- apiece, and one forfeited bail.
Harry Anderson (38), who had been! up three times in three days, was considered to be "on the bend," and waa fjiven seven days' imprisonment to get the liquor out of his system. George Heigh way (SS) also made it the lucky third offence, though the tliree had occurred at intervals of a month or two, and | he was prohibited and fined 20/-. Thomas I Woods (50) agreed to try a prohibition) order, andHie'was 'convicted", discharged,' j and prohibited. . > | Joseph Murphy (35), for using obscene j language when he was drunk in Marino i Square, Devonport, yesterday, was fined i £2, in default seven days. ! JUST WANDERED IN. j "I have no recollection of. it," stated | I Thomas L. Richardson (G2), who was j ' charged that he had been found unlawI fully on the private premises of Isabella ! Wyatt in Marmion Street at midnight: last night. The arresting constable stated that he was called in by Mrs. Wyatt, and found the man sleeping in the yard of the premises. He had evidently had some drink. * It was considered that Richardson had merely blundered into the place to sleep off the effects of drink, and he was prohibited, convicted and discharged. MISCELUVraOUS. Daniels (58), an Islander, charged that yesterday he committed an indecent assault oh a male, was remanded .until Friday. Francis Chas. Jlaxetead (30), on a charge that at Mount Albert yesterday he assaulted John Lee so as to cause him actual bodily harm, was remanded till Friday, bail icing fixed at one eurety of 1 £50. The charge arose-out of a quarrel between Maxetcad and Lee over the latter's d-cg chasing a pig through a paddock where the otlier man's milch cowe were grazing, and it i 3 alleged that Maxstead struck Lee so violently as to break his nose and severely bruise his ■face.
