THE AMUSEMENT TAX.
PICTURE SHOWS DONT BUND.
(Times and Sydney Sun Services.)
LONDON, February 1
The majority of the theatrical and kindred managers are against the proposed tax on amusements, stating that, despite tho overflowing attendances at theatres, and picture shows, the prosperity is only temporary, and the rates and taxes and cost of production are heavier than ever before.
Tho managers also suggest a renewal of the agitation for Sunday opening, and hint that the tax will be passed on to patrons.
Moving picture Bhow managers view the tax slightly differently. They do not object to a moderates tax, and suggest that the Government shall place surcharge stamps on the tickets.
