UNIVERSITY SENATE.

WELLINGTON", Thursday.
The University Senate, on the recommendation of the La,w Committee, resolved that any candidate who has volunteered and been passed as fit for service be allowed to sit at the supplementary law examination in subjects of the second division, in lieu of the November examination. A conference of four professors of physics, Professors Farr, Jack, MaTsden. and Owen, authorised by senate to deal with the matter, resolved that the syllabus in physics for B_\. and B.Sc. pass degrees be altered, so as to make it a reasonable one year course, and recommended changes in the syllabus accordin"lv. The recommendations were referred' to the board of studies to consider and repoTt. Acting on the report of the medical committee it was resolved, that a candidate who has failed in whole or in two subjects of the second professional examination shall be required to take all three subjects at the subsequent examination. Such candidate shall be admitted to a special examination to be bold in the month of September, provided that the candidate, before reexamination, shall attend such course or courses of instruction as the Faculty of Medicine may determine.
