Authority -was given to tue i;n;;iueex to expend i 250 on poruoas of the Aroha moad and ouier roads on the iWaitoa l'lanis. tin the recommendation of a special committee set up tor the purpose of considering the purchase of the .WaKefcanri battery, it was decided to asa the Government to consider the undertaking of the erection of an op-to-date battery for the use of prospectors. It was f resolved to .purchase a ten-ton road roller, at a cost of £SB7. The Director of Live Stock Division 'wrote stating that it was his intention to appoint a permanent In-; spector at the county abattoirs at an early i date. The District Engineer of the Puttie .Works Department wrote advising the Council that his Department would not I .undertake the deviation of Cartman's Road. It was also -pointed out that the Council would have to survey the road and have same legalised before the grant could be expended. It iwas decided to reply to the effect that the Council was not prepared to spend the money required far the work. The Public Works Department advised by | letter 'that no further authority could be given for work on the Eastport Road, in I view of the Under-Secretary's instructions :by circular re votes for construction of roads and bridges. Mr F. J. Burgess 6.M., wrote stating that he would aoW an Infinity at tlie Courthouse, Faeroa, on Wednesday, the 9th inst., to deal with the adjustment of properties and liabilities between the County Council and the Pacroa Borough Council. A special committee was appointed to represent the Council at the inquiry, with full power to act. The Under-Secretary of the Mines forwarded a schedule showing amounts available for authorisation for roads and other -works which is proposed to be entrusted to the Council. The total sum amounts to £1355 G/3. The resignation of Captain A. C. Hubbard (who is now In camp at Trentham) as a member of the Council was accepted with regret, on the motion of the chairman. The financial statement showed the credit balance at Ibank of No. 2 account to be 7/6 Accounts amounting to £1619 -17/10 (of •which £21 17/ Is recoverable from the Government) were passed for payment.
