NEW BRITAIN EARTHQUAKE
LASTED A MINUTE. ISLAND DID NOT DISAPPEAR. (Received 11 a.m.) BRISBANE, this day. The steamer Morinda reports that the recent earthquake at Rabaul, on the island of New Britain, lasted a minute, and that the island of Matupi did not disappear, as was reported.'
