ENEMY IN RETREAT. GOVERNOR FLEES ACROSS THE BORDER. WELLINGTON", January 23. The High Commissioner reports under date 21st inst.: — "Since the occupation of Jaunde, in the Cameroons, Allied columns have been diipatched west, south-west, and south, with the object of pressing the enemy's retreat towards the coast;' and cutting off the retreat into Muni. Spanish terri" tory. On reaching Koimaka, the Noog River column released 17 prisoners, subjects of the Allies. By January 18 it was reported that the Germans had evacuated Ebolowa and Akonolinga, and that the German Governor and the German commandant had escaped into Spanish territory. "Fighting is also reported close to the German-Spanish border, where two French columns are trying to prevent the escape of the Germans into Muni."
