FliriT AND PiRQDCCE MARKET. Auctioneers report that business in the fruit and produi-e market las been good during the week. Increased t»nslgnmcnts of local fruit have come to liuml, and. prices generally ihave boon satisfactory. Choice penehes and'plums arc selling well- the latter "are 'getting much scarcer. Tomatoes ■and j,T«pGe« are in good demand nt quotations. Applet) are more plentiful, and lower pi ices arc being accepted: pears arc also routing along in much larger quantities, and arc ruling lower. Apricots from the souui are arriving in bad condition, and selliug at a loss to shippers. The Karamii arrived from Fiji on Monday with a cargo ot bananas, which met a poor market on account of being so close to the main shipment. The prices realised will show a loss to shippers. The potato market is uncertain, since export- shipments "are almost certain to he curtailed. iMuciu lower riitee .must be expected.
