MAORI SCHOOL TEACHERS.
WOEK IN CONFERENCE. The business of the Native School teachers in conference was continued at ■Parnell yesterday afternoon. It was decided that the committee be composed of eight members, four from the North and four from the South. There I was come dieouwion as to whether the meeting ac a whole should elect -the committee, or whether the Northern and Southern members should elect their own representatives. On the motion of Mr Vine, it was decided that the meeting ac a whole vote to -sleet the committee. The following committee was elected:— North: Meeare Aakine (Oromahoe), Young (Ngawhs), England (Tautoro), Hume (Maraeroa). South: Mrs Alford (Rangihua), Meaure Lee (Waitakaro), Drake (Tome), Proctor (Waotu). A demonstration of etencil drawing for tie blackboard was given by tie editor of "Te Waka Maori." By means of this method chalk pictures of maps, animate and landscapes can be rapidly drawn. It w*e decided, on the motion of Mr. C Maboney, thai the Department be aeked to fefiere teachers of the necessity of forwtatfng quarterly returns, ekeept for the December quarter of each year. During the conference the delegates hare been entertained to luncheon and afternoon tea by Mr. A. Wilson, headnueter of St. Stephen's School. A pleasant eswtmg was spent by the delegates yesterday on the harbour. The Condor was pwrided for the occasion, and the members enjoyed a moonlight excursion round the harbour.
