TAKAPUNA BOROUGH COUNCIL

The Takapuna Borough Council met last evening. There were present: The Mayor (Mr. W. BlomfleM), Messrs. T. B. Arthur, X, S; Thompson, it. S. H. Biss, B. Cronin, J. Collins, J, Lisk, T. Hanna, and E. E. Grim wade,Permanent Levels.—Tbe subject of the permanent levels of Hauraki Koad, which was discussed at some length at the last meeting of the Cotlnell, was again brought np, when a letter Was received, from a ratepayer asking tbe Council to receive a deputation. It was decided to reply that ja committee would meet the deputation and report to the Council. Coal and 'Scoria on "Beach.—A complaint was received that coal and scoria had become so scattered -at the wharf end of the Takapuna Beach on being landed-from .scows as* to be. a source of danger to the public. The matter was referred to the Streets and Works -Committee. Library.—A ratepayer 'suggested, that the Takapuna Library, which has been housed at tbe public school for many -years, should be removed to the specially allotted room in the new Municipal Chambers before the ■resumption of the school work after the bolidavs. A committee, consisting of -OoupcUlora-Cronin, Thompson, and Collins, was appointed to deal with the question. Municipal Chambem. — Councillor Biss intimated that, tb'e Council's share of the loan -of £2.000 foe the :new Municipal Chambers could be raised on debentures at oi per cent, redeemable at the rate ot, approximately. ■__ per year.
