OCCUPATION OF CORFU.
PROTEST FROM AUSTRIA. VIOLATION OF AGREEMENT ALLEGED. January 10. Austria has protested to the United States against the occupation of the island of Corfu, as being a flagrant violation of the Agreement cf London of November, 18S3. Corfu passed under the protection of Britain after the Napoleonic wars. Tho British Commissioners, who were practically autocrats,' brought about a de- j cided'improveißtat in'the material prosperity of the island, which ; was in 1864, ■ with the other lonian islands, ceded to 1 Greece in accordance- with the wishes of ' the inhabitnnts. _
