SIR GEORGE REID
ENTERS ENGLISH POLITICS. ANNOUNCED AS A UNIONIST CANDIDATE. g (Received 2 p.m.) LONDON, January 6. Sir George Reid (the retiring High Commissioner for Australia) has been chosen as the Unionist candidate for St. George's. Hanover Square. The selection is not altogether a surprise, as it was thought that he would probably enter polities in England. The vacancy was caused by Sir Alexander Henderson's elevation to the peerage. Mr. Gibson Bowles, tiie Independent Unionist candidate, will possibly retire in view of Sir Geonre Reid's selection. Sir Alexander Henderson, Mr. G. H. Roberts (Labour member for Norwich), and Mr. Wm. Brace (Labour member for South Glamorgan) have also resigned.
