THE YEARLING SALES.

« ASCOT AND GLENORA LOTS. A GOOD COLLECTION. Although the yearlings to be offered from the Ascot Stud Farm and Glenora Park Stud are not so strong numerically as in some previous years, the eight from Mangere and the five from Papakura are considerably above the average, and, taken all round, are a very even lot. The successful sires. Elyslanj Penury, General Latour. and Marble Arch, are represented, and the colt by Elysian from Lady Gwen, bred by Mr. Mackenzie, and the colt by General Latour—Lady Musket, owned by Mr. Walters, would bold their own anywhere. The lots to be offered were inspected by the writer recently, and are as follows:— ASCOT STUD. The first of. the Ascot lot is a chestnut filly by Penury from Wcnona, a first foal. Wenona, wbich is by Starina from Lady Gwen. dam of Lady Penury, never raced, but showed exceptional speed when tried. The youngster to be offered Is full of life, and is Yvell developed, and being just the sort to get ready for the early two-year-old events, which are so profitable. A good solid colt is a brown by Penury from Hamadryad, with a beautiful set of legs and great girth: be is sure to develop into a decidedly useful Eort.

The full sister to the speedy colt Koesrau, by Elysian from Kowerewcre, is a fine big 1 filly, with a'splendid barrel and plenty of 'substance. She promises to be bigger than her brother, and is onejthat is sure to, commahd'.attention. _,'_' ■'■-.

"Ono.of the best coits-i have ever bred," was Mr. Mackenzie's comment on the colt by Elysian—Lady Gwen, and certainly his enthusiasm is fully justified. The youngster contains a double cross of 'St. Simon, and is very hard to fault. Well grown, and with splendid thighs and forearm, a large number of good judges will have to admit themselves in error if he does not furnish into an ideal Derby colt.

A nice quality filly is the youngster by Elysian—Hypatia, which comes from a good running family. The filly under notice should come to band quickly, and gives promises' of developing exceptional speed.

The full sister to Cymcr, by Elysian— Cyirraa, is a real good sort and a beautl-fully-bred youngster.

A racy youngster, full of life and vitality, is the filly hy Monoform — Tunewha. Well grown, and with great rein, she ehould fully uphold the family honour when asked to race. Tunewha, the dam of this filly, is a half-sister to the once great performer add now successful sire Elysian. .. ' The last ot the lot is Cie bay colt hy •ElTslan—Eton Lass, tiereTore quarter brother to Home Rule, a good winner over country. A nice even colt, he is a most promising youngster, and is certain to be a bit above the average. As Is usual at the Ascot Stud Farm, the youngsters have not been pampered, but have been practically reared in the open, so that buyers will not have to contend with any artificial development. G-LBXOKA PARK. Mr Walters only offers five, but they are '. alt- worthy representatives of- the famous, breeding establishment, and not a had! one,, amongst them. '" A bay colt by .Marble Arch—Lady Seville, the latter a full sister to General Latour, and kept specially for the stud, is well grown and a nice quality youngster mat promises to come early and go fast.

A first foal is the colt by tMarbie ArchMarie 'Rcgina, the latter by Hie'rarc'h, from the Hotchkiss mare Songa, so that the youngster has the St. Simon—Mosket cross so much sought after. This colt is a good even youngster, and very hard to fault.

A beautiful Ally and very bard to fault Is the youngster by Marble Arch—the imported mare Merry Nif, uherefore fuirsister to Gold Lac. This filly Mr Walters is very proud of, and rightly so, for she Is one ot the nicest fillies imaginable.

The bay filly by Marble Arch.—Soult Rose,the latter a full sister to "the great Walrlki, is a racy sort, that is sure to go fast.j .

Undoubtedly the pick of the lot, and one of the best yet sent into the ring by Mr "Walters, is the bay colt by General .Labour from Lady Musket, dam of those great performers Lass o' Gowrie, Lycia, GlcnGowrie, Salute, King Sonlt, and Soldier. A typical Soult, the youngster Is very high class, and if looks go for anything, one that Is sure to be a tAg stake winner. Certainly nothing better has been bred at tne birthplace of so many champions.
