BISHOP AT THE PICTURES.
—' - m A CHURCHWARDEN'S SHOW. ! (3y Telegraph-(Special to "Star.") CHRISTCHURCH, this day. At the C.E.M.S. Conference the chairman, Bishop Julius, said:—"l do not often go to picture shows. But lately I visited a picture show—not in this diocese, but in another. I Jiaa expressed doubts, but was assured that the proprietor of the pictures was a churchwarden and there would be nothing to offend the eye or taste, and that his show would be absolutely beyond Teproach. I took jsme children with mc, and was greatly j grieved to find the pictures showed .'among others one most grossly horrible thing—the most grossly horrible I ever saw. So bad was it that after the pictures the proprietor came out after mc and stated that the attendant had by some mistake put the pictures through to 'try' them. It was not that it was : indecent," said the Bishop. "It was that .it was simply awfully disgusting vulgarity." He hoped that some of the news- , paper censorship would be shifted to pictures. .
