SERGEANT NOTICES SMOKE. HAVOC BY BURSTING SHELLS. YOUR' HUNDRED VICTIMS. (Received 2.15 p.m.) AMSTERDAM, December 28. Details of the Meunster explosion show that a sergeant noticed smoke issuing through the seams in the floor. He ordered the 750 workers to quit the factory. A violent explosion almost immediately followed. There were over 400 victims. Many women and children in the neighbourhood, thinking it an air Taid, rushed into the street. This curiosity led to many fatalities, as shells in the factory continued to explode. One damaged a number of houses, killing several.
