Lance-Corporal Percival Christopher Coldstream, who is returning by the Maheno, is the fourth son of Mrs "Coldstream, of Horopito. He was born at Palmerston North, and went to school at Bunnythofp'e and Kelvin Grove. He was a well known footballer and athlete of all-round ability. For some time he was in the Public Works Department at Te Kuiti. He enlisted with the Veterinary Corns. His brother, Martin Leonard Coldstream, was wounded some time ago. PRIVATE EDWIN ROPER. Private Edwin Roper, who was reported in yesterday's cables to have been severely wounded 'in the right shoulder, and admitted to the New Zealand General Hospital at Cairo on tiie 2:! rd inst., left with the Fifth Reinforcements for the Auckland Battalion. Prior to enlisting he had been residing at Northcote with Mr. 11. Blackburn. He was employed at the Colonial Sugar Co.'.s Chelsea refinery. His near relatives reside in Wigan, England, while his only brother in New Zealand, the late Mr. William Roper, was killed in the Huntly disaster. PRIVATE J. F. SLMPSON. Private James Ford Simpson, who is returning to New Zealand by the Ruahine, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. W. Simpson, of N'garuawahia. He is 20 years of age, and was born at Perth, Scotland. He enlisted with the Second Reinforcements, joining the Hauraki Company of the Auckland Battalion. Private Simpson was wounded on May last at Gallipoli, and was first taken to Malta. Later he was transferred to Netley Hospital (England), and thence was transferred to Weymouth. James Simpson has lived in New Zealand since he was five years old, and received his education at Otorohanga, Ngaruawahia, and Hamilton High Schools. At the time of his enlistment he was by occupation a grocer at Xgaruawahia. While in England convalescent Private Simpson was given an opportunity to visit his birthplace and his ielatives. | PRIVATE J. LAURENSON. Private John Laurenson, 23rd Battalion, Australian Force, is one of the four sons of the late Mr. Thomas Laurenson, of Taihape. Mr. Laurenson, sen., died subsequent to the enlistment of his son John. All four sons have enlisted, two being already on active service, and the other two being with the New Zealand Rifle Brigade. Private John Laurenson was born at Pungitawa, Taihape, and is 22 years old. He was farming prior to his enlistment. PRIVATE L. KERNOT. I Private Leonard Kernot, who is returning to New Zealand by the Ruahine, was dangerously wounded at the landing in Gallipoli, and has been in hospital ever since. He enlisted with the Wai-; kato Company of the Auckland Battalion in the main body of the Expeditionary Force. He was born in Auckland, and is now 23 years of age. At ,ao time of his enlistment he was employed at the Taupiri sawmills. Private Kernot was very well known in musical circles, and while on service won an Army competition for singing for his company. ' PRIVATE P. BLUNDELL. I Private Percy Blundell, who is re- ' ported to be returning invalided by the Ruahine, left New Zealand with the main body of the Expeditionary Force. He had been trained in the 11th (North Auckland) M.R., but enlisted with the 15th (North Auckland) Company as an infantryman, in order to get away more quickly. He saw active service in the attack on the Suez Canal, but was then down with fever for four months, followed by sunstroke. LateT, after eight months' service in Egypt, he was sent Home suffering from pleurisy, for treatmen at Hampstead Hospital. Private Blundeli, who is the third son of Mr. Percy Blundell, one of the oldest settlers of Kobukolm, -was born in that settlement, and is 22 years of age. Prior to enlistment he was employed as an engineer.
