MOTOR LAUNCH ABLAZE.
_ OCCUPANTS' NARROW ESCAPE. DRIVEN OVER THE SIDE. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) WELLINGTON, this day. The motor launch Rapier, said to be the fastest motor launch in Wellington, was towing a water plane in the harbour yesterday, when the engine back-fired with the result that a tank, holding about a tin of petrol became ablaze. Efforts were made to smother the flames without success, and the occupants had an exciting experience, being driven by the heat over the side of the craft into j the water. They were rescued by a cutter from the Monowai. The hull was practically destroyed, the damage being estimated at £100.__
