INTREPID FISHERMEN.
THE ONLY MASTERS OF CRAFT. TRAWLERS AT DARDANELLES. (Times and Sydney Sun Services.) (Received 9 a.m.) LONDON, November 21. Mr. Ashmead Bartlett pays a tribute to the work of the trawlers in the Mediterranean. They were used, he says, for patrolling the lines of communication and for conveying supplies for the troops from Mudros to Gallipoli. He declares that the North Sea fishermen are a magnificent race. and are contemptuous of "others regarding seamanship, which they regard as being a lost art except to themselves. For eight months they swept the Straits and braved shells.and submarines, while elsewhere they made thousands of trips. Their only loss was one trawler sunk by shell fire at Anzac.
