A French official report Bays that in the Dardanelles the operations have recently been of a quiet nature. Whenever the Turks venture to attack, the Allies' tire repulites them, preventing many regaining the trenches. Our artillery forced the Turks to evacuate a fortified position in Kereves Dere Valley and bombarded Achi Baba and the Asiatic batteries, directed by our aviators. The Turkish artillery is sometimes silent for days, suggesting a lack of ammunition. Then tlio IWg guns Vii! burst forth without warning. Our troop* have abundant water. Our losses are not important. Turco(ierman aviators have hot appeared Tor a considerable period, whils ours make daily (lights resulting in effective bombardments of the Turkish headquarters,' transports, and wharves.
The activity of the British submarines in the Sea of Marmora is marvellous. Our brave Allies in the north zone fought an important engagement which culminated in the junction of the troops at Anzac and Suvla Bay.
