BY GERMAN FORCES.

RUSSIAN SUCCESS ON THE PRIPET.

GERMAN FORTIFIED POSITION TURNED.

THE BATTLE OF SARI BASR.

HAMILTON'S TRIBUTE TO ANZACS.

According to advices from Berlin, the long-expected German attack upon the Serbs has begun. The Berlin War Office announces the success of the first attack.

The Russians turned a German position in the Pripet marshes and forced the enemy to fiee, hotly pursuing them. Along the Sereth front the most noteworthy feature of the campaign was a Russian cavalry charge against Austrian entrenchments. These were captured, and prisoners were taken, the Russians suffering trifling losses.

General Sir lan Hamilton pays a glowing; tribute to the ■work of the Anzacs, the Maoris, and the Indian troops in the recent fighting for Sari Bair, declaring that their exploits will live in history. They had the most difficult of all the operations to carry out, a night march and attack upon a strongly entrenched and determined enemy, and they took a well-nigh impregnable position with the greatest dash and valours.
