Mr L. B. Todd, the well known football player, and son of Mr. John Todd, of Otahmhu, has been granted a lieu tenant's commission in the imperial Army. Mr. 0. C. Beale. a prominent citizen ol Sydney is a throug-h passenger by the Makura on the return trip from Vancouver. He is accompanied by Mrs. Beale. The Rev. Brother Prisci'lion, an Italian priest, arrived by the Makura on a health trip. He has been residing in Fiji, and fears that he may have to undergo a surgical operation while in the Dominion.
