AUSTRIANS ADMIT CHECK IN VOLHYNIA.
SUPERIOR FORCES ENCOUNTERED IN ROVNO AREA. RETREATING TO POSITIONS FURTHER WEST. (Received 10.25 a.m.) AMSTERDAM, September 19. A Vienna communique claims thnt the Russinn offensive in the Strypa region has broken down. It admits that fighting again&t superior forces is proceeding in the Volhynia triangle of fortresses, Luzk, Rovno and Dubno. The Aimtrians are withdrawing portions of their front to positions further west.
