STRANDED 'S.S. AMRA.
REFSLOATTNG PROBABLE.
The stranding of the small steamer Amra on the reef at Vima Point, about eight 'hours' steam from Suva, as reported by cable last week, does not a-ppear to be a very serious matter, and it is expected that the vessel will l>e got oir without much trouble. The R.M.*. Niagara received a wireless call for assistance before her arrival at Suva, and arrived at the scene of tlie wreck on Thursday morning. Oaptain KolU sent a launch to the stranded steamer, but the officer in charge <vnw told that no help was required. The capfeuu of the Amra stated that he 'had jettisoned a good deal of his cargo and bunker coal, and that lie was expecting assistance from Suva. The steamer was resting (bow on to the reef, with al>oat six feet of water forward and about thirty feet ibft, and showed no sighs of leakage. The officer on the launch offered to take off passengers and niwils, but the captain stated that 'he had neither aboard. When the Niagara arrived at Suva she found that the Government steam yacht Ranadi waa preparing to leave for the wreck, -with the object of towing the Amra off if possible.
