(By Telegrnph.—Press Association.)
DUNBDIN, this day. The question of comforts for disabled soldiers in Egypt and hospitals in England wae mentioned by a reporter to Mr. I Alien. Minister for Defence. He said he j desired to , draw a. clear distinction bei tween ordinary hospital necessities and conveniences and provisions for sick and wounded, and what he would call special comforts—'writing paper, enaving material, books, etc. He thought such comforts just the sort of requirements to be supplied by the generous public of Kew I Zealand. Money had been donated by the public to the Empire Defence Fund for the purpose of providing comforts lor the sick, wounded, nnd convalescent sal- , diers. We have already forwarded tliose • sums and more. When a telegram : reached him asking for more he iramedi- ' lately sent £2000. He had public money ; in hand now for the purpose, of providing comforts for the sick and wounded, , and he thought it would be wise if the , j Minister for Defence were kept, supplied . with a certain amount, for this special purpose.
