COLLAPSE OF A BRIDGE.
RESULT OF RAIX. A telegram was received by the Man*kau County Council this morning from Whitford, stating that last nights downpour of rain has resulted in the collapse of the Whitford-Broqkby bridge In view _ot the Councils present financial position. ,t was decided to write to the Prime Minister, urging that tihelr sub-"p-m I 1 ""° uld amotini; to about £iOO, be authorised, so that the work ot repairing the bridge could be effected as soon pos3i-ble. It was also decided that the County be instructed to form an estimate ot the cost of renewing twelve other wooden bridges in the oouaty
