A MARINE PARADE.
DEVONTORT TO CHELTENHAM. One. of the most important features of the new -road improvement scheme for Devonport is the proposed esplanade round the waterfrom. right to Cheltenham Road, a part which 'for many years das been sadly n ejected. The * whole appearance of that portion of the borough is at present marred by its unsightly condition. The engineer states that ft* proposal would transform King Edward.! Parade inJo one cf the finest esplanades in New Zealand, and would greatly enhance the appearance of that j portion of the borough, while, at the same time, it would be an acquisition to the whole of Devonport. The comprehensive road improvement Rfu"me th.it hr.<* been prepared by Mr. Loekie Gannon will give the borouah permanent roads, and the cost of mafntenanco wi'l bo reduced to a minimum Expenditure upon the patchwork method is mere waste.
