CONTROLLING THE EXPORT.

Wellington:, this day. A potato shortage was recently announced, and prices rose promptly. The (rovermncnt at once, investigated the position, and v-oiir correspondent was informed to-night by the Prime Minister that the Government has taken power to prohibit the export of potatoes if necessary. "L don't say it is necessary at present." added the Rt. Hon. W. F. Massey, "but if there is any trouble we can do it."
