GERMANS COSIPEIiED TO EVACUATE METZERAL. WELLINGTON. June 2a The High Commissioner reports from London on June 20:— In the region north of Arras, after a fierce struggle, Bural Bottom, which liad been stubbornly defended by the enemy since May 0, was carried by assault. On the slopes east of Lorette, in the direction of Souchez, the French captured several trenches, making 300 prisoners. # The advance in Alsaco has been continued on both banks of the Fecht. The Trench bombarded tho Munstcr railway station and blew up ammunition depots there. Metzeral, which the Germans set on fire before evacuating, has been completely invested. An official communique states: — A violent artillery duel took place north of Arras, where our front remains unmodified. We reached the outskirts of Metzeral, in Alsace, and hold the enemy's communications between Metzeral and Munster under artillery and infantry flro.
