Thirty-six new members *eie elected, and arrangements were made for a further canvass by members of the committee will, the object of enrolling more new- members. Main Trunk Highway, —I: was decided to send ii representative from the A.. Soeiation to the united conference ~t delegates that is to tie held in Tnumarunui on July 171.1 i. in connection with the movement to construct a national highway between Auckland and Wellington, along the rout,, of the Main Trunk railway between Auckland and Wellington. The .Association expressed willingness to co-operate in any act ion lliat was deemed desirable. Timber Destruction.—lin llie stiggestion of the president he and Mr. MeColl were appointed ;i <iili-eommittp<- to report at next meeting on the position with regard to timber supplies. Mr. Harbutt o-Wnvod that the destruction of vast areas of timber in the war zone would have s reflex effect upon \ ow Zealand. The question was whether this country was doing all i t could in the way of afforestation. The Government had promised to take action, but apparently the report of the Commission on the subject had been pigeon holed.
