Tbe Markets Committee, in presenting a report last nijrlit on tbe position of tlic City Market endowment and the Customs Street market site, stated that it bad fully reviewed a report made by a sub-committee of the Council in 1913. With reference to this, the committee stated its opinion that it was not practicable to deal with the principal lessees on the market endowment area for the surrender of their leases upon terms nt all advaiitnjjcons to the city, in which circumstance the advisable course to follow was to allow most of the leases to run on and expire.
