DEFILES HEAPED WITH AUSTRIAN DEAD, { -■ ADVANCE GUARDS' PROGRESS IN EAST PRUSSIA. 1 PETROGRAD, February 26. An official communique states: — 1 The Germans took the offensive near Moghely. We drove them back, penetrated their lines and captured two lines of trenches. Desperate fighting has occurred in Eastern Galicia. We dislodged and overwhelmed the Austrians in a night attack on the j.chetchwa River. Tlir enemy fled in disorder. The defiles were heaped with dead. Our advance guards between Kovno and Olyta progressed a long distance from the Niemen. We repulsed several attacks in the Frasnyoz region with great loss to the enemy. We captured a farm at Krasnosicle after desperate fighting.
