He ia now spending a month in gaol. Noticing that a group of five men, on< of whom he believed to be an ex-convict in close conversation in High Holborn a detective decided to keep them undra observation. Ho followed them to v*ri ous banks, and when a gentleman carry ing a bag of gold Left a Strand bank an< boarded a 'bus, the men followed iaw The detective boarded the Tans, and, wit! assistance, arrested the men. At Bow Street, -where the men were each een tented to three months' imprisonment one of them remarked -of the detective "He-is a very clever officer and a sui prising man." The magistrate also com plknented tihe detective. A quarrel in a stetved-«el shop led t> the death of Frederick James Bradlej 36, house agent, of High Street, Clap ham. The deceased was. heard to sa\ "I am a German spy." A (fruit s&lesmai named Tom Goddard, of Church Road Brixton, then said, "You are my pri soner." The pair went outside an< fought, and Bradley fell heavily, sns taining a fracture of the skull. God dard has Tieen Temanded on a charge o manslaughter.
