A most successful sports gathering .was held at Roturoa Island on Saturday last. the meeting being postponed from the previous day (Anniversary iDay). ou account of .the' unfavourable weather. The ground was in splendid order, and the general arrangements made Iby the committee left nothing to be desired, the lengthy programme ,-belng carried out without the slightest hitch. Prizes •to the monetary value of £13, besides several -other trophies, were -competed for, and all present -thoroughly enjoyed the meeting. The 100, 220, anil 440 yards' handicaps, brought out large fields. ..and the times recorded compared favourably with outside gatherings. The 100 yards was run in lOis. the 220 yards lv 28s. and the quarter-mile in jy-s. The programme included several swimming events, which were full of interest. In too evening a concert was lield in the hall, when the prizes won at the -meeting were presented hy Staff-Capt. Haines, who complimented the committee on the .manner in which the sports had been carried- ont, the meeting being -by far the most .'successful yet (held.
