THE PRICE OF MEALS.
AN INCREASE INEVITABLE. RISE OF 25 PER CENT PROBABLE. Inquiries made amongst Auckland restaurant proprietors by a "Star" reporter this morning show that an increase in the price of-restaurant meals ,ig regarded as inevitable. Th e high cost of foodstuffs is given as the reason for the increase. The reporter found the proprietor of on e of the largest restaurants in Auckland toiling in his own kitchen. He explained llHit in order to make his restaurant pay, it had been necessary to dispense with tt'e services of a. chef, and so he had to work in the kitchen himself. He expressed the opinion that meals mi(st go up in price and that the increase would be made vel T soon. ftfr" A. The Association would consider the matter at a meeting tp be held shortly.
