ATHLETICS.
HANDICAPPERS' ASSOCIATION. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, Thursday. A meeting of those interested in the formation ot a Handicappers' Association in connection with athletics was held, to-day, there being present: Messrs. 3. McKay (Otago). M. Wylie (Otago), Ramsden (KaJtangata). D. F. McKay (Otago), R. B. Meek (Otago official handicupper). Mcallugs (Christchurcb.), Barrett (Christchurch), Geary (Timaru), Hanson (EJtham), and Collingwood (Fellding). After an informal discussion, it was decided to form an association with the .object of securing some uniform system of handicapping. Mr. Thomson (Blenheim) was appointed president, and Mr. Callander (Hawke's Bay) secretary. Sub-committees were appointed to draw up rules and regulations In regard to handicapping, which it is not intended- shall be rigid, but rather elastic, and also to provide for uniform entry forms and other details. WELLINGTON CHAMPIONSHIPS. <By Telegraph.—Press Association.* WELLINGTON, Thursday. The Wellington Centre Amateur Athletic Association has granted the Wairarapa Association's request that the provincial championships should be held at Masterton this year on the understanding that the Wellington centre receives one-half of the net proceeds. February 20 was recommended ns the most suitable date. It was also decided that the country clubs' championship meeting should be held at Wanganui on a date to be fixed later.
