Jn a letter forwarded to the secretary of the New Sylvia mine the manager states thnt the reef for the last 15 feet hag maintained its size, and values of about £.'{ per ton. The last two feet of driving assayed for a width of six feet £6 12/ per ton, with no footwall showing. The following wire was received subsequently from the manager: "No. 5 level, next five feet assays £10 per ton for six feet wide." CONSOLIDATED GROUP. The returns from the Consolidated Group of Mines, Reefton, for the month of July are as follow:— Progress: Milled 2,620 tons; value, £3,396;; working expenses, £2,535; capital development, prospecting, £1,655. Blackwater: Milled 4,784 tons; value, £8,616; working expenses, £5,062; capital development, £1,241.
