HAMILTON FIRE BRIGADE.
SYSTEM TO BE ALTERED. '.By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) HAMILTON, this day. The methods adopted by the Hamilton Fre Brigade wore criticised at a meeting of the. Fire Board last night, following upon an unfavourable report by Inspector Hugo, who said the methods adopted might, be considerably improved, particularly in tho way of conducting practises in different parts of the town, thus famdiarising the members of the brigade with the various localities, buildings, positions of street fire hydrants, etc It was noticed that while through-out the borough hydrant indicators were mostly in place and maintained in good order, they wore entirely missing along the business portion of Victoria Street, and should be put in place. The chairman remarked that the Inspector did not think much of the fire drill practised by the brigade. It was decided to instruct the superintendent to adopt methods of drill along tiie lines of the Inspector's report, and it was also decided to ask the Council to mark the hydrants in the main street. Estimates for the year amounting io XoViO. including the present overdraft of £250, were adopted. Plans of the new lire station in Garden Place were submitted, at an estimated cost of £2,000 in brick, and £I,SOO in wood: married men's quarters, £GOO, and steel tower, £250, being additional. The necessary authority was received for installing a fire alarm system, at a cost of £30.
