HOCKEY.

Considerable interest is being evinced by the Training College students in the forthcoming annual match Past v. Present, to be. played at Remuera od Wednesday, July 1. At the present time altogether too much obstruction is prevalent in the play. Turning on the ball is the principal portion of the fault. Another weakness on the part of some players is being indulged in in the outside grounds, that of having rather too much talk when the referee's decision is given. Taranaki are the next to seek Norden Cup honours, for the representatives of the West Coast Association meet Waikato on the 27th inst. On their way home the Auckland Reps, will be met, and should provide a useful practice game in view of the Shield match the following Saturday.
