SYLVIA'S VEILED THREAT.
BOMB FOR MR. ASQUITH. ANGRY CROWD AT CLAPHAM. (Received 1.30 p.m.l LONDON. June 7.
ITiss Sylvia Pankhurst, in a speech in the Last End, said that when she saw Mr. Asquith next Wednesday she would ask the deputation not only to plead, but to threaten him. She did not rare about herself, and asked them to carry on the movement because it might happen that she would not be alive on Wednesday. She was determined that the East End people should settle this question on Wednesday. A suffragette speaker at Clapham Cbmmon aroused hostility by making a veiled threat of bombs, and the meeting wa-s broken up. Several of the speakers had najTow escapes from lynching. Similar scenes occurred at Hanipstead and Hyde Park. A suffragette was arrested for shouting during the evening sermon at Westminster Cathedral. HIRELING VANDALS CARRYING ON THE CAMPAIGN. (Titncs £ n<l Sidney Suq Sotticcs.) LONDON. June 6. The character of the suffragette movement has completely altered. Originally volunteers did the work. Now it is run by well-paid women, who in many cases have given up other employment to join the militants because the pay is better. FOREIGNERS AMAZED. AMERICAN PAPERS' GRAVE FEARS. (Received 5.30 a,m.) LONDON, June 7. The French papers are a.mazed at the spectacle offered the world by Britain in consequence, of the suffragettes. The German Press is astonished that no remedy can be found, while the American papers consider the gravest feature is the danger of the movement spreading indefinitely.
