In the Auckland Supreme Court today Mt. R. A. Singer made an application arising out of the recent conviction of a man named Harold Spencer Caulkin, charged with the theft of ten rings •belonging to Nurse and Co., his employers. Appearing for (Nurse and Co.. Mr. Singer mentioned that tlre pawnbrokers, through the police, had asked to be reimbursed, and he, therefore, applied for the rings to be returned to Nurse and Co. His Honor Mr. Justice Stringer replied that at present he was under the impression that ,w,hen the prisoner pledged rings time after time the pawnbrokers' suspicions should have been aroused, and they should have com—unicated with the police His inr.l—ation was to restrict tire order to the payments on the first two rings, but he would first give the pawnbrokers .in opportunity oi -being represented
