WAITEMATA LICENSING COMMITTEE.

The annual sitting of the Waitemata Licensing Committee was held at noon to-day in the Devonport Borough Council offices. Mr E. C. Cutten, SAL, presided, and other members of the committee present were Messrs A. Alison, R. H. Duder, J. C. Macky, and R. S. Reynolds. A transfer of the license of •the Wade Hotel from M, C. Kelly to A. F. WUliamson was granted, on the application of Mr Baxter. The licenses of the following hotels were renewed, the police report being favourable in each case:—Mon Desir Hotel, Takapuna (A. J. Raynes); Esplanade Hotel, Devonport (B. Goldwater) ; Masonic Hotel, Devonport (1L G. Jones); Northcote ■Hotel (M. J. Walsh); Hot Springs Hotel, Waiwera (A. C. Barnes); Wade Hotel (A. F. Williamson); Lucas Creek. Hotel, Albany (Mrs E. Ware). In the case of the last-named, Mr R. MeVeagh, for the licensee, intimated that it wa3 proposed to change the name to "The Albany Hotel." All the hotels under the <H>n__ttee's jurisdiction were stated by the police to be well conducted, and with one exception in excellent repair. No complaints of any kind were brought forward.
