SIR DOUGLAS STRAIGHT DEAD
(.—eceived 10.15 a.nO LONDON. June 4. The death occurred to-day of Sir Douglas Straight. Sir Douglas Straight was a noted lawyer and newspaper man. He was born m London seventy years ago, and commenced his car.jer _?'a journalist. At the *ge of 21 he took to the law. and rapidly built np _ lucrative practice. He next turned his attention Li politics, and in 1870 was elected for Shrewsbury, but was defeated four years later. In IS7O he was appointed Julige of the High Court of —_—_—ore in AT__abad, and retired on "pen;tion in 189— Four years later he tookover-the edit—-ship of the Tall Mall <*-——_,* holding thai post until I'.tnn. ■"hen he retired.
