DOUBLE DISSOLUTION.
AFPEXED FOR BY MB. COOK. LIKELY TO BE GRANTED. (Received 9-50 a.m.)' MELBOUB-vE, this day. Tbe Federal Government has applied to the Governor for a double dissolution owing to the rejection by the Senate in two successive sessions of the bill to prohibit preference to unionists in Commonwealth employment. The Governor's decision is to be given I to-day. and it is believed will favour the j request.
In the event of a double dissolution the selected Liberal Senate candidates for New South Wales are Senators Gould. Millen. and Oakes. Messrs. H. E. Pratten i President of the New South Wales Chamber of Manufacturers). A. K. Trethowan (Vice-President of the Farmers' Association), and F. Cohen, barrister.
