THEFT FROM A DWELLING. The jury yesterday returned a verdict of guilty in the case of James Moy—— and Daniel Hannon, who were charged with theft from a dwelling. The judge remarked that the record of Moylan was so bad that, had the jury known it. they would not 'have made the reoomtnendealiou they did. CASE COLLAPSES. A plea of not guitt-y was entered iv the im*c of James William Tunnel, a young ir.itn. charged with having committed unnatural offences in Auckland in February hwl, Mr. R. A, r-inger dpfended. Tlie case for the prosecution appeared (o break down while tbe chief witness was under eroSE-exiam h—.Hon, and the Crown Prosecutor (the lion. .1. A. Tolr. K.C.). asked his Honor's permission to withdraw the case. In consenting, Mr. Justice Stringer remarked that tbe evidence of the witness in question was quite unworthy of credence. The jury returned a fo£— al verdict of not guilty, and the aeons-ed wae discharged.
